The specialty dental assistant prepares and maintains instruments, equipment, and materials for specialty dental procedures, while ensuring our patients are as relaxed and comfortable as possible. The specialty dental assistant will assist 3 different specialties while working under the supervision of the specialist. The specialties include:
Implant restorative (Tuesdays) – taking x-rays, taking impressions, and assisting with permanent crown seats.
Oral Surgery (Wednesdays and Fridays) – will work with the Oral Surgeon and one other DAANCE certified dental assistant on consults, extractions, biopsies, and occasional implants with use of N2O, oral, or IV sedation.
Endodontics (Thursdays) – will work with the Endodontist and 1 other dental assistant on consults, x-rays, root canals, and apicoectomies.
The dental assistant must have excellent communication skills, be able to council our patients in postoperative care and general oral health, as well as demonstrate an understanding of evidence based dentistry. Working knowledge of oral surgery procedures, and sedation options and administration is preferred. Active Washington dental assistant registration required. DAANCE Certification preferred. Oral Surgery/Endo/Implant experience preferred but not required.
