    Job Responsibilities

    The Construction Manager will oversee and manage a wide range of commercial construction projects, new building construction and remodels for Willamette Dental Group.  The Manager will exhibit strong leadership competencies ensuring projects are managed on time and on budget from concept to completion.

     

    Essential Position Functions

    • Plan, direct and coordinate activities and staff concerned with all facets of building construction or remodeling of structures, facilities and systems.  Ensures performance feedback is given to staff in an appropriate and meaningful way.
    • Participate in the development of construction project plans and oversee their organization, scheduling, budgeting and implementation to meet deadlines.
    • Negotiate prices for goods, services and supplies with suppliers and subcontractors.
    • Confer with owners, contractors and skilled trades (i.e. plumbers, carpenters, electricians, etc.) to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints or construction problems.
    • Understand sub-contracting negotiation processes and principles of managing skill trades contractors, ensuring that subcontractors are in compliance with their contracted scope of work.
    • Strong understanding of the permit process and how to cooperatively get work permitted accomplished with the local building departments.  Follow and inspect or review projects to review and monitor compliance with building and safety codes and/or other regulations.
    • Travel throughout the service area to ensure projects are progressing and possess a willingness to help manage the sites in a hand on capacity as needed.

    Job Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    5 or more years’ experience managing and overseeing commercial construction projects, new building construction and remodels and a Bachelor's Degree in Planning or Construction Management; OR equivalent combination of education and experience which will provide the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.  Must have a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle in Oregon, Washington and/or Idaho and possess an acceptable driving record.
